<백남준 석가모니의 번뇌를 뛰어넘어 새로운 세상을 열다

석가모니, 인도의 한 왕가에서 태어난 종교적 부처였다면, 백남준은 초부자 집에서 태어난 문화적(예술의) 부처였다 백남준의 라이벌은 부처다. 그는 과연 부처를 능가하였는가? 모든 가르침의 우두머리 종교라 하는데 그런 종교 중 하나인 불교의 깨달음보다 한 수 위인 예술의 절대적 아름다움은 가능한 것인가? 그것을 보여준 것이 바로 백남준이다 / While Shakyamuni was a religious Buddha born in a royal family in India, Nam June Paik was a cultural (artistic) Buddha born in an ultra-rich family. Nam June Paik's rival is Buddha. Did he really surpass Buddha? 30세기 영겁을 산 20세기 예술적 부처인 남준, 그는 인류에게 공존과 평화의 도구인 인터넷 네트워킹(인류의 소통과 참여의 최고의 기술도구)이라는 선물을 남기고 왕생했다. 백남준이 1974년 착안한 인터넷의 이름은 전자 초고속도로였다(Nam June, the artistic Buddha of the 20th century who lived for eons in the 30th century, left behind a gift to mankind called Internet networking (the best hi-tech to communicate and participate), as a tool for coexistence, and peace for man. 남성이 부처의 깨달음을 얻으면 부처가 되는 것이 아니라 여성이 된다. 그게 바로 관음보살이다. 관음보상이 여성으로 보이는 이유다. 뒤샹부터 백남준까지 여성이 되려고 한 이유다. When a man attains Buddha's awakening, he does not become a Buddha but becomes a woman.
